Foundation Database Concepts Identifying Records Primary Key: Filed that uniquely indentifies a record/row. Composite Key: Two fields that are necessary to create a unique primary key. Foreign Key: A field in one table that is the primary key in another table (which is referred to as the master table). Relationship cardinality: Cardinality describes the type of record correspondence b/w the entities/records. one to one, one to many, many to many.

Foundation Database Concepts Controls for tables: Entity Integrity: always must have a unique, non-blank value for the pirmary key. Referential Integrity: values entered for a foreign key must match an existing value in the master table. Validation Rules: Range Test: minimum or maximum values. Validity Test: only specified values from a list. Length Test: specific number of digits. Completeness Test: assures that a value is entered. Field Test: assures that the proper type of data.
