F.What are the advantages of a kick-off meeting? What are the advantages of developing a team charter? The project kick-off meeting “sets the tone for how the team will work together” (Larson & Gray, p. 383). There are significant advantages to hosting a kick off meeting: the textbook states that it provides sufficient time to establish ground rules, introduce the team to each other, and begin to define the structure of the project. Informal interaction such as this is critical to forming solid working relationships, relating the goals and scopeof the project, and discussing formation of the team (Larson & Gray, p. 383). Another benefit is that major issues can be addressed, including planning decisions, tracking decisions, managing change decisions, and relationship decisions (Larson & Gray, p. 384). The advantage of developing a team charter is that it makes the norms found in high-performance teams more tangible. It goes beyond the scope statement of the project and states in explicit terms the norms and values of the team (Larson & Gray, p. 385). These charters tend to be collaborative efforts by the core team, and it creates a required commitment to the principles that create higher levels of team cooperation, confidentiality, communication, efficiency, and effectiveness.ReferenceLarson, E., & Gray, C.
