could imagine that I was on autopilot. I researched journals and articles during my ADN program, however I seemed to have forgotten how important it is to our profession. I am choosing to actively research on my own, while I take a couple of years break from school, and present educational in-services or even a small class on topics in the Neuro field to my colleagues. Having taken the research class and how a research article is produced allowed me to enjoy researching studies on many different topics. The research class was great experience, and each class taken has involved some research, such as this class, where we researched for articles that allowed us to present our capstone projects. Another attitude that I will be changing is that towards administration. The article I chose for this weeks’ discussion focused on administration and research. To sum it up in a sentence, there is an organization that researches new ways in which to lead. Most nurses that are now retiring are baby boomers. The research
FUTURE GOALS 3 that they are conducting is new ways to lead a new generation of nurses that need to be led differently than the older generation. Their focus includes “the economic value of nursing, innovative models of nursing care delivery, healthy practice environments, patient safety and outcomes, effectiveness of leadership, effectiveness of leadership education, use of technology and data, and use of innovative research designs” (Warshawsky, 2019). I have a new respect for administration and all the work that goes into making our profession all that it can be.
