So whatever you have stored on your PC you should have a copy on yourexternal hard drive as a backup so if the PC hard drive fails you can recover it using yourexternal hard drive. Manufacturing company the first one you see on the list from left to right is the VPN Server. Thisserver is used for remote users to connect to the company’s database through the internet. All thedata traveling between the computer and server through the VPN tunnel is encrypted. In order tosetup this VPN server I am using Windows Server 2012 R2 which can support VPN setup. Thenext setup of the setup is to make sure the routers and firewalls permit legitimate VPN access topass through.The DNS servers along with the rest of the servers are located at the main LopesManufacturing Network Operations Center. The servers are all located at the Network OperationsCenter because that is the organizations main Information Technology Head Quarters and it iseasy for the engineers to access the server if they need to restart the server physically. The DNSserver is running Windows Server 2012 R2 and it handles all the AD domains and directories sothat they can be translated into IP Addresses. As you can see I also have a secondary DNS, I havethis setup this way in case the primary DNS goes down. All the traffic would be redirected to thesecondary DNS causing no interruptions to any of the users making the organizations stillfunctional while the primary DNS Server is being worked on.Both Windows and Linux operating systems will be integrated in this organizationsinfrastructure. These two operating systems have many features that benefit the company inmany ways. Linux provides open-source features, multi-user, hierarchical file system, and Shell.Windows adds to this by being very easy to use and maneuver for many users such as searchingand organizing, parental controls, default programs, and remote desktop connection. Theseoperating systems will be ran using a virtual server that way it is much easier to setup andmanage on the engineering side as well as save good money on hardware.
Using the virtual servers would be an ideal method and would even make cloningeasier for the engineers to have incase anything would go wrong with the virtual machine. Sambawould then come in when it came to file sharing that way applications developers that like towork on Linux can share files across users using Windows Operating System.
