reminded that the current research design constitutes correlational relationship, and not toprove causal inferences. Furthermore, the authors noted potential weaknesses in the past andcurrent studies that genetic effects and measurement of violent content exposure were nottaken into consideration.Despite robust evidences suggesting towards the existence of a causal relationshipbetween VGV exposure and increased aggression, the evidences proving otherwise is muchstronger. The causal relationship between VGV exposure and increased aggression is betterexplained through third variables. The field of VGV research presented issues such asselective publication bias and study design as the main causes of the misleading discussiondirecting towards a causal relationship. Based on the above summary, there are interventionopportunities for future research improvements and the need for the psychologicalcommunity to address VGV exposure from a public health perspective. The mainrecommendation in studying aggression directs at the need for new theory and movingbeyond the concept of VGV.
