The Director, Labour Relations and Human Rights administers the Human Rights Policy. You may arrange for a confidential consultation before deciding to make a complaint. Once a complaint is accepted, the Director, Labour Relations and Human Rights may provide mediation, or arrange for outside mediators or investigators. In all complaints, the Director, Labour Relations and Human Rights acts as a neutral third party, not as an advocate for either side. The Human Resources Department provides management and employee consultations and presents seminars on respectful workplace and human rights to employees. You may arrange for a confidential meeting with the Director, Labour Relations and Human Rights. 23 REPORTING ABSENCES For all absences due to illness, you must notify your Supervisor and the Switchboard each day of your illness up to 10 days. Switchboard will complete a Notification of Absence form and copy the Dean or VP; Division Chair or area manager; Department Chair; and Payroll. The Switchboard operator will also put a Return to Work form in your mailbox for completion if you are absent for 10 days or less. Upon your return, you must complete this form and send it to Payroll. Please note that your record will show that you are absent due to illness until Payroll receives your completed Return to Work form.
