But Europe and the US aren’t ancient? o The Europeans had the Industrial and Scientific revolution which allowed them to have new technological advances to make more food, babies, and everything o So they were caught up by these revolutions o All places now have access to industry, and technology, and medicine, and all these things BUT the physical world is not the same in all the regions of the world and the historical background or lineage is not the same Population growth rates are not the same all over the planet due to this Thus the world population is now distributed equally across the planet Know these regions o The biggest population total is East Asia at 1.5 billion people o South Asia has 1.4 billion o Sub-Saharan Africa has 700 million o Southeast Asia – 600 million o Middle east – 550 m o South America has 500 million o Western Europe – 400 million o North America – 340 million o Eastern Europe – 200 million o Russia – 145 million o Japan – 127 million o Mexico – 115 million o Central Asia – 100 m o Turkey – 70 million o Central American – 45 million o Caribbean – 40 million o Australia – 23 million The beltway around D.C. has more people Population growth rates are not the same everywhere and some regions are growing fast while others are shrinking o He wants us to research our own family tree and find out how many brothers and sisters our great grandparents had Then ask our grandparents Then ask our parents
