through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” Abraham is viewed in Christianity as the perfect example of faith without law. It is said in Ephesians 2:8-9 “ 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.” This implies that it is not by observing the law alone that you will be saved but also through your faith of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Romans 4:13 says “ For the promise to Abraham and his offspring that he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith.”, which shows the Christian view of Abraham as an example of faith in God. Abraham didn’t have a law to follow as the law came centuries later through Moses so therefore his connection to God was through his faith in God, and that’s why he was chosen to establish a covenant with God. By establishing Abraham as an example of great faith, the Christian agenda is promoted as it shows that God’s chosen people those who have faith and therefore you do not have to be Jewish to be part of the great nation promised to Abraham. In ancient Arabian history the followers of Allah were called the believers before they were referred to as Muslim and the religion was called Islam. The believers were polytheistic believing in God’s other than Allah. The Believers, like the Jews, regarded Abraham as the patriarch of their faith but they posit that Ishmael was the promised child to Abraham where his nations would descend from, thus making them God’s chosen people. Abraham is considered the perfect Muslim in the Islam faith. He is mentioned to be a monotheist in Surah 16:120 “ 120 Abraham was an exemplary leader, devoted to God, a monotheist, and was not of the polytheists.
