Where timber boards are used as sheathing, the timber shall be secured at each purlin by at least two galvanised head clout nails at least 40 mm long. 8.1.2.3 Timber ceilings Timber ceilings are generally constructed using 25 mm × 150 mm tongue-and-groove boarding, 16 mm plywood or other patented boarding. Boarding or other ceiling sheeting may be installed on a secondary frame of 50 mm × 50 mm or 50 mm × 100 mm battens fixed to the rafters.

PCTTS 599: 20XX 139 8.1.3 Metal 8.1.3.1 MS steel beam structure Figure 8-2 gives details for different arrangements of beams for steel roof structures. Tables 8-3 and 8-4 give recommended beam sections for the different arrangements. 8.1.3.2 Cold formed steel Cold formed steel sections are made of galvanised steel sheets of thicknesses between 1mm and 1.5mm; C, U and Z sections are the roll formed profiles used in roofing . Cold formed steel sections shall be used for purlins as shown in Figure 8-3 or for rafters and purlins as shown in Figure 8 -4 . Tables 8-5 and 8-6 give the recommended sections for Z purlins and Tables 8-7 and 8-8 give recommended sections for Z or C rafters.
