internal assessment of employees, the grading system of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) is used in the company. The employees of the company set the performance goals for themselves. Based on the goals identified, quantified results are mapped. The quantified results are measurable and hence help in evaluating the achievement of the goal. This way, the performance of the employee gets gauged and accordingly his career and development plan is designed. Succession planning helps in developing a talent pool of employees in the organization, who are developed to take the leadership goals in future. Google is known for its succession, successful planning. The employees are comprehensively evaluated and based on their capabilities, their career plan and succession plan is mapped. Google has been quite successful with its succession planning strategies. The company has been quite effective in identifying talent of the company. The appointment of Sundar Pichai as the CEO of the company is the most appropriate example. The talents of Sundar Pichai were identified by Larry Page and it proved to be quite beneficial for the performance of the company. This highlights the importance of a comprehensive career planning and development policy at the company. I myself and my team are working on a plan for the first draft of the new policy.
