The distracting aspects of my gestures hurt the way I presented myself and lowered my credibility to the audience because it made it seem like I didn’t know where I was going with what I was saying. I think during my last semester of high school when I took public speaking my gestures were worse, but it is still something I think I at least need to note and work on. I think my biggest issue that needs to be addressed is my reductancy. When I volunteered, I think I was more interested in being done with the task and not making the rest of my pledge brothers go first rather than doing my very best. I think if I had waited for a couple people to go, I could have really thought through this vital moment in my life and picked out the small details I wanted to discuss like the crazy wave of orange and blue in my room or the hugs that my best friends and I shared. 2

(3) Use a few words to summarize/describe your public speaking performance : “I currently sound ______”. Then, use a few words to describe the type of speaker you would like to become: “I would like to sound ______ / I would like to be known as a ______ speaker” I currently sound bland and would like to sound energetic. I want to be a speaker than people want to listen to. During the speech, I would definitely say that I was pretty soft spoken in reference to how I usually speak and I think that was based off of not being prepared and the nerves that come with public speaking for me. I think I need to work on caring and believing exactly what I am saying to help me become energetic and make the audience want to listen to what I am talking about. (4) How do you feel in general about public speaking? Are you energized by it? Are you fearful of it? Why? Please elaborate.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
