counseling children who experience trauma, since depending on the circumstances, poverty
can associate to traumatic experiences in a student's life.
The smart goal for the implementation of culturally responsive teaching
The use of collaborative, child-centered instruction/teaching is rarely practiced in my
school. This can be attributed to several reasons, but the most blatant is,
teachers are deficient in knowledge and strategies because of the lack of training to
implement the same in their classroom. Teachers cannot implement what they do not know.
Although I have read and learned about culturally responsive teaching practices I am still a
novice in this area; thus, proper training and practice is needed. Therefore, a SMART goal for
the implementation of culturally responsive teaching will be as follows:
Between the period of September 1, 2020, to December 30, 2020 training/
professional development in collaborative child-centered instruction will be planned,
coordinated and completed by 100% of the members of staff to equip teachers of the school
with the necessary skills and proficiencies, so that they will be able to begin to
