These are drop-in hours; you need no appointment during these times. If your schedule makes these times inconvenient, I can certainly be available at other times as well. Please email for an appointment – the more lead time, the more flexibility we’ll have in scheduling a convenient time for you. Critical Course Dates: Aug. 21: You are here! Aug. 28: Drop/add deadline Sept. 2: Holiday Sept. 16: Exam 1 Oct. 9: Exam 2, and Withdrawal deadline Oct. 11: No class - Fall Break Nov. 4: Exam 3 Nov. 27 & 29: No class - Holiday Dec. 4: Final day of class Dec. 6 (Friday): Final – Exam 4; 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Course Requirements: Exams: There will be four equally weighted exams during the course, each covering approximately 1/4 of the course material. The average of your 4 exam grades will constitute 90% of your grade for the course. Exam questions will come from material presented during lectures as well as from assigned readings. The exam format will be predominantly objective (e.g., fill-in-the-blank, multiple choice, true/false, matching), but may also include diagrams to label, terms to define, and short answer questions. Make- up exams are strongly discouraged, and will be permitted only with official written documentation of extreme extenuating circumstances (e.g., death of an immediate family member, serious medical emergency). Make-up exams will consist primarily of essay questions, and will be administered during the final examination period. Any student missing an exam must contact me within 24 hours of the exam; failure to do so will result in a grade of zero (“F”) for the exam. The chapters to be covered by each exam will be approximately those listed below. There may be some need to adjust the amount of material as we proceed through the semester. You will be fully informed of any changes well before the exam date. (There will never be more material than listed below). Exam 1 Chapters 1- 3 Exam 2 Chapters 4 - 6 Exam 3 Chapters 7 - 8 Exam 4 Chapters 11 & 9

Attendance: Regular class attendance will be essential to your success in this course. From your 2019- 2020 UNCW Undergraduate Catalogue : “Students are expected to be present at all regular class meetings and examinations for the courses in which they are registered.” Please understand that I will construct exams based on the assumption that students are in class every day, and you will need to be prepared to answer questions about any material presented. I will not collect attendance data every day – you know the expectations now – but to add a bit of extra incentive for coming to class regularly, please see “Quizzes” below. There will be a few class dates this semester when class will not be held and you will receive an assignment to complete on your own, outside of class. These dates will be announced well in advance. The material covered in the out-of-class assignments will be treated exactly as regular lecture material.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
