The growth of Muslim communities in India has been a relatively understudied subject, and the reason for this neglect of scholarship is not far to find. The history of the emergence of Islam in India began in 711 and took over ten centuries to stabilize and to be accepted (Eaton, 6). Initially, when Islam was introduced, India was in turmoil when they began to see a culture and religion that was sophisticated as their own, and as a result, this resulted to batter between Islam and Hinduism, which lasted for centuries. Numerous scholarly literatures focus on the history that started with Mahmud Ghazni, who earned a title because of smashing Hinduism idols in the Hindu's temple. Traditionally, before the introduction of Islam in India, people who wanted to escape the caste system would move to Buddhist, therefore when Islam became another option, they slowly began to convert to Islam instead of Buddhist ( Metcalf 10). As a result, Buddhist religion died in India, even though its influence is still present today. The most notable event that led to the growth of muslin in India was the Mongol invasion in the twelfth and thirteenth century, which significantly disrupted civilization of Muslim particularly in Central Asia. Muslim in India built their kingdom, the sultanate of Delhi. Such action along with the sea –borne trade with the rest of Asia significantly expanded Muslim culture in India.
