Murdoch University 12 Computing Facilities The practical component of this unit is done in the University’s computer laboratories which are equipped with Intel based computers running Microsoft Windows. We will use Java 2 Platform Standard Edition 8 (also called Java SE 8, JDK 8, or just JDK 1.8), and the NetBeans IDE. Both are freely available. Murdoch University 13 Assessment Assessment for this unit is conducted in accordance with the Assessment Policy. Schedule of assessment items You will be assessed on the basis of: Assessment% mark Week due Weekly laboratory work 10% By the start of next week’s class Assignment 1 20% Week 6Assignment 2 20% Week 12Final Examination 50% University assessment period Assessment details Laboratory work The laboratory work will be assessed on an on-going basis. Students are required to demonstrate their laboratory work during the workshop sessions on a weekly basis. Assignments Details for submission of assignments including the actual due dates will be given on the assignment question sheets. Please read the assignment question sheet carefully and pay close attention to all of the instructions as assignments which do not meet these criteria may lose marks. Final Examination The final exam will be held in the assessment period after the end of trimester of study.
