(b) Suppose her boss tries to induce her to work more. For this he proposes the following: For every hour she works above the amount she used to work, she will get double the wage rate for the additional hours. Find her work and consumption decision under this mechanism. Did the boss achieve his goal? (c) Realizing that keeping track of her overtime working hours is too costly, her boss decides to give up the overtime wage but arranges her fixed wage (that applies to all hours she works) in such a way that, if whe decides to work as much as she was working under overtime wage, whe will get exactly the same total income. What will be this new wage rate that must be set? What will be her work consumption decision under this system? Will she prefer this or the overtime wage? Her boss will achieve the same solution (increasing her working time) as before? 2

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
