Another alternative to having an expensive prescription would be to look for coupons online. Many corporate and common pharmacies have contracts with certain coupon sites such asGoodRx. Walgreens, CVS, Harris Teeter/ Kroger, and Walmart pharmacies are all common corporations that have contracts with GoodRx to provide coupons for their customers. Some places such as Harris Teeter have their own customer savings coupon that they can use called

Kroger Savings Club has a join up fee of $36 and then most common drugs that are very popular have low costs and sometimes even helps to have very expensive brand drugs to be a little cheaper for you. Paying the one time fee could be worth it to have affordable prescriptions every month. GoodRx has a prescription membership as well that could help lower the costs of medications for consumers. The final thing to help save money with prescriptions would be to look online for patient assistance programs. This is very similar to what I have previously talked about concerning GoodRx, and Kroger Savings Club, but these can be other programs to help you save money such as scriptcycle savings card, or discount savings card. These are cards that you don’t have to subscribe to, you just have to look them up give to your local pharmacy so they can help to discount your medications. Often times these don’t take a lot of money off, but these are the last resort to having your medications at a cheaper and more affordable price. Most use these cards incases that they have to get medication because they can’t live without it and all other alternatives this paper has suggested has either not worked or weren’t an option. This would be a last case scenario to help the consumer get a discounted price. When you are constantly fighting a market that's always going to win because they are a major corporation its very imperative that you come prepared to fight for the best price you can find. There are many different ways to get cheaper medications and beat the price that the manufacturer tries to make you pay, and there are many alternatives and cheaper medicines that could help to cure the same problems. Drugs are very expensive due to manufacturers and due to other problems, and we as Americans are very aware of this and are trying to come up with betteralternatives for cheaper prices. In addition to giving patients better access to lifesaving treatments, lowering prescription drug prices would help bring down health insurance premiums
