The advertising for Nike is one of the best in the business, that being said we will discuss the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the campaigns and the company as a whole. The strengths Nike has in their campaigns are that they are generally a competitive company, offers their product worldwide, and has a very strong marketing campaign which increases brand familiarity. They use the soft-sell approach to catch their viewers’ attention. They dig deep into your emotions to get you to do something, whether it is walking or dancing, they want you to move! If someone was watching TV and eating chips and saw a commercial of someone struggling to run but every day that person progressively gets better, I am pretty sure that person sitting on the couch will feel guilty. We must also remember that the era we live in is very active, especially this generation and younger generations as well. Having a thin body is still being worshiped on by many young girls but nowadays it’s is about being fit thin. In another words Nike has an advantage because not only is this a great era to sell sporting good to but also they have been building their brand image all these years that Nike is one of the most trustworthy (in quality) brands. The weaknesses that Nike has are that they normally never emphasize the actual product that they sell. If someone that never knew of the brand watched the campaign they probably would think it’s either a gym or an organization to help people train. There have also been accusations of poor conditions in the work place. They are also very dependent on the profit they make of the footwear as opposed to other brands that are not as strong in that area.
Nike The opportunity that Nike has is the expansion they can produce. They can create an expansion in the global markets to create brand recognition. Nike has the opportunity to expand their products such as jewelry or sunglasses. The threats are competition between other brands creating the same quality as Nike. The Nike Company would have to maintain the reputation of being eco-friendly.
