5Academic Resource/Strategy 1Dr. Moon: My strategy is to learn about professional networking strategies from Dr. Moon. Throughout thiscourse, I intend to work toward this goal, while researching health care policies. By learning the interconnection between health care and politics, my strategy is to gain a deeper understanding of our healthcare system. Through this research my goal is to be a strong leader who can effect as much change as possible for the greater good of people. Academic Resource/Strategy 2Kathy Yost MSN, RN: Kathy is a Professional Educator with her MSN in nurse education. She specializes in mental health in Phoenix, AZ. As a colleague and student of hers at Aurora Behavioral Health, Kathy challenges the status quo for mental health care, as well as providing outstanding lectures on her research to further the community of Mental Health Providers. I plan to continue to network with Kathy in the future, as I know she is an excellent resource for the best practice outcomes in the mental health environment. Academic Resource/Strategy 3Dr. McGovern, PsyD: Dr. McGovern is a Psychologist in Phoenix, AZ who instructs students nationally in the field of Professional Psychology. She has taught me many things about networking into the psychological community. Under her guidance, I was able to attend The Arizona Psychological Conference. At this event, I met many other professionals in the community. I believe with her
6exceptional knowledge of mental health, advocacy, and commitment to education, she will be an asset to my future networking needs. Professional Resource/Strategy 1Larry Volkmar, MBA, RN, CEOI first met Larry while working at Banner Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the CEO at that time who had recently relocated from Chicago, IL with his partner to Phoenix. After new employee orientation, we quickly became good friends. While others were intimidated by his status at the hospital, I saw through this, as I quickly saw his passion for healthcare. I admired his ambition to his goal of executive management from his initial role in healthcare as an L&D RN. As a Magnet Hospital, I was introduced to the concept of “Shared Governance” under his direction. He chose me to attend leadership events held by the hospital and would visit my unit frequently. Throughout the years, I’ve stayed in contact with Larry. He is a wonderful resource,
