trills), follower Mizmar ( tabbi) accompanies rayyis with repetitice short 2 nore phrases, plays drones, duplicates rayyis’s melodic line. 3 rd Mizmar player, drone maker keeps a constant drone and circular breating to play the drone. Be prepared to identify the following terms/concepts in 4-5 sentences: Male stick dances: : talk about where there are performed (place and settings), types of dance movements, musical instruments accompanying the dancing, stick and male identity. Stick dancing is performed at saidi weddings, also called Tahtib. Men typically have their own stick and inherited from their father’s favorite stick. It’s a traditional way for med to display their strength and grace. The music turns to specific repertoire for a solo type of stick dance. By the dozens, the men get up and each begin his own dance, oftehn in tight quarters as the number of dancers increases. A mizmar player will extend these moments.
