Nursing shortages are predicted in the future as the baby boomers continue to age. Will we be able to train and keep people that will have the ethics to practice with integrity or will we have so few still that we risk burnout? With the aging population, end of life care issues will continue. With advancements, there will have to be a revised guideline on how the end of life decisions and care will be made. There may not be enough medications or organs to meet the demands in the future. Although advances have been made in reporting drug shortages and reducing them, shortages are still expected to occur. How will we address this issue ethically (Larson, 2013)? Conclusion The code of ethics is made to protect patients. Following the code allows health care professionals to value the ethical principles of each patient. We do this by allowing each patient to be a part and make decisions in their healthcare.
