The whole project required us to perform the ETL. The client already has SAP, but they wanted it to upgrade it to the latest SAP Version. The Data extraction was done using the ABAP programs. The whole data was extracted in a single program execution and extract file was created. Next, step involved Data transformation, which was again done with the help of ABAP programs. The Extract file was uploaded in a Z-Table of SAP. Program was executed, which involved look-ups for old system values to new system values. Separate look-up Z-tables were created for each Master data field value. The program returned the transformed data in a separate Z-Table which was named as the Pre-Load file for Data load. At the end of execution, the program also gives the error log for the records which fail to transform along with the reason of the error, old and the new values, etc. The Pre-Load file created was sent to business for their review and approval, so that it can be loaded in the production System. The final step involved the Data Load in the production system. The data was loaded using the LSMWs and ABAP programs which involved the use of standard BAPIs for data loading. For almost all the PM objects the data was loaded using the LSMWs. For open work orders and for the objects from PS modules the data was loaded using the ABAP programs, which involved use of standard BAPIs. The LSMWs and ABAP programs were created in the development phase of the project. The Pre-load data file obtained from client after their review and approval were loaded in the system using LSMW. At the end of execution, an error log and session log was generated from the LSMW, which was sent to client for their review. The Data successfully loaded in the system was taken into Excel file and was sent to Client for their final review and this file was termed as Post-load file. At the end, the Post load approval was obtained from the client and documentation was handed over for their future reference.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
