Surname 3controls. In the year 1996, the Justice Department of the United States gave estimation that about310,000 gang members possessed guns even though laws of gun control have already been imposed in several regions of the United States. This number was almost half of the total numberof gang members who were estimated to be 665,000. Gun control is also not necessary because criminals can still find ways to access the guns in the black market, involving the illegal making and sale of guns. Several people purchase guns for self-defense and protection due to the ruling made in the year 1856 by the Supreme Court that said that the government did not have a specific duty of protecting individuals. It would be unfair for criminals to have guns and good people to lack guns to protect themselves against the criminals. Therefore, it is necessary for everyone to own a gun for protection and self-defense and gun control should not be there. The United States led in gun deaths all over the world with approximately 34,000 deaths in the year 1996. These deaths occurred despite the endorsement of gun control laws, showing that gun control was not effective. Several of the gun deaths are accidents and suicides while few
