imperfect is on the right path to creating true value from a financial standpoint for businesses as well as improving my existence or at the very leastmy happiness.Thinking about Blacks previous chapter and the role of business as an existence�improver, it seems logical that the core value of business should be one of capitalizing on change. Oakley looks at tension towards change can manifest froma product design standpoint. He talks a lot about timing of change, in that a company needs to strike the right balance between falling behind consumer needs and innovating products that may be unnecessary. This takes me back to the previous chapters when we looked at design as having a starting and stopping point, and I think that the concept of being finished with a design is a notion of the past. Products seem much more organic and iterative now. In regards to design and its place within corporate hierarchy recognize the importance in each of the charts that Oakley illustrates. I do however, take issue with the notion that design from an external entity would be better received than design from a department within a company. The intra-company tension of a design department that Oakley focuses on, seems overstated if not completely inaccurate. As a service provider, external agencies will never fully
