Patient should be encouraged to use a humidifier at home
especially during the night, Tylenol may be used for pain, and
warm packs to the sinus area may help with pain. Increase
non caffeinated liquid intake and warm liquids such as caffeine
free green tea and honey (Woo & Robinson, 2015). Patient
should know that he may be contagious and should be
washing hands often, disposing of used tissues appropriately,
and covering his mouth when coughing. If patient does smoke,

education on smoking cessation should be given. Patient
should be instructed to take his prescription until it is gone
and if symptoms persist or do not improve within 7 days he
should notify his provider.
