Legitimate Power
POWER, OFFICE POLITICS AND A CAREER IN CRISISDavis also abuses his legitimate powers as Green’s supervisor by giving unrealistic forecasts as away to fight his control over Green. It is as if he is micro-managing Green who happens to be putoff by his style of management.Davis is probably abusing his power to trap Green into asituation that will make him loose his job (Sasser, Beckham and Harvard University, 2008).ConclusionThis case study illustrates how the use and miss-use of power, the engagement in officepoliticking, as well as organizational behavior and human decision processes can drasticallyaffect an organization as well as an individual’s career. Though politicking may be a dirty thing, however, if used ethically and legally, it can result to both individual and organizational success(Barbato, 2009).
