4. Choose one organelle or cellular component and research a disorder that affects it. Then, answer the following: What is the name of the disorder? Tay-Sachs Disease Which part of the cell is affected? The part of the cell that is affected is the Lysosomes, which breaks down toxic substances and gets rid of them. What are the consequences of this disorder? It is usually found in infants, couple months after birth. It can cause; blindness, deafness and paralysis. Children who are diagnosed with this disease, don’t make it past the age of 5.
