were watching trying to rip the water hose out of the wall. When I discovered that my brother had lied to me about this, as well as many more things that changed my view of the world as a child, I was angry and disappointed, not only in him for telling me countless lies, but also in myself for believing him. As I got older, I started to become more jumpy when hearing loud noises and my mind tends to go to the worst possible scenario first. It also became much more difficult to trust people because the trust I had put in my brother was betrayed. I still cannot walk by a stranger without thinking they might be out to hurt me in some way, and the slightest shift in temperature always makes me believe that someone or something is behind me, just watching and waiting for me to turn around. There are times I cannot sleep for days on end because even closing my eyes for a minute makes me nervous and afraid. I still hold the place of the gullible, scaredy- cat younger sister in my family, so they are constantly trying to trick me into believing something that isn’t true. I believe that family influences a large part of our identity development, whether it’s in a good or bad way, and the most identifying parts of our personality are developed through experiences from family interactions.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
