College SuccessFINAL PROJECTTravis Chappellbusiness owner requires me to do just that—if I decide to do more later, college willalways be an option. If I do decide to continueat Cabrillo College, I receive a BOG waiver which coversall my tuition. However, I still need money to cover my living expenses. So, I alsoapplied for grants and student loans.“Most students pay for college through acombination of various types of financial assistance: scholarships, grants, loans, and paidemployment. Financial aid professionals refer to this combination as a package” (p. 304).After I graduate and receive my certificate, I must repay my student loans, and Iintend on starting their repayment as soon as possible.Of course, I only borrow what Ican afford to repay, and try to use grants first. “While scholarships and grants areunquestionably the best forms of aid because they do not have to be repaid, the federalgovernment, states, and colleges offer many other forms of assistance, such as loans,work-study opportunities, and cooperative education. You might also be able to obtainfunds from your employer, a local organization, or a private group” (p. 304)I applied for financial aid by using FAFSA, however, there were several documentsthey requested that I have not yet submitted and, unfortunately, the deadline just passed!I requested the official transcripts from my former colleges, but they had not yet receivedthem.“Financial aid seems complex because it can come from so many differentsources. Each source may have different rules about how to receive the money and hownot to lose it” (p. 303)
