longer used in the school setting (Chen, 2011). Coughing without covering your mouth Historical solution: People were taught to cover their mouth with their hands and wash their hand. Modern Solution: With COVID-19 virus going around people are taught to wear a face mask if you have a cough or to cough into their elbow instead of their hands. Also, you should stay at home if you do not feel well and practice good hand hygiene. Bullying Historical solution: I feel that parents and teachers would sweep bullying under the rug and ignore the signs of a bullied child leading kids to depression and sometimes suicide. Modern Solution: Public awareness has increased tremendously. By law, all states are required to have a written anti-bully policy to both dissuade aggressive behavior and provide recourse if a bullying incident occurs. While these policies can help rectify non-violent instances, once a student has been threatened, it’s important to involve law enforcement. Depending on the level of bullying, some of the charges that could be made include threatening behavior, indecent assault, criminal offense of assault, or negligence (Writers, 2019). Research has found that being the victim of bullying can lead someone to engage in deviant behaviors. Youth who are bullied are more likely to become deviant than youths who are not.
