Calibrating the systemcompensates its errors and greatly increases its measuring accuracy. For this purpose,various calibration standards of known electrical properties are successively connectedto the network analyzer and then used to measure values. Coefficients for correctingerrors in these values can then be determined through comparison with calculatedvalues taking into account the calibration standards’ known electrical properties. Thevalues measured later on are balanced by means of such error coefficients in order tocorrect systemic errors. Any change in frequency range, transmission amplitude ormeasurement lines must be followed by re-calibration.
The operating frequency range is 1 - 2 GHz. The microstrip components used in thecourse have an operating frequency of about 1.5 GHz.Calibration measurement with the network analyzerConnect the transmitter to the analyzer’s receiver using the accompanying cable with aninterspersed SMA-to-SMA adapter.
