the individuals questioned stated that they were victims of a cyber-crime at least once in the past. This number has grown in the past two years. There are different types of computer crimes that users have to be aware of when surfing the web. There’s identity theft, where information of users such as their social security number, credit card number, and bank account information is used by someone else. This leaves the victim with outstanding payments for high priced items like cars and jewelry. Spam is another type of computer crime. The user is barraged with useless emails that are equivalent to soliciting telemarketers. The only difference is that spamming can be done an incredibly fast rate, which can lead to crashing of computers or websites (Pot, 2010). An example of a spamming would be a DDos attack, which stands for Designated Denial of Service. The website is flooded with automated pings, which clogs up the servers for that website. When this happens, that website becomes inaccessible by all other users. Finally, malware can be considered the biggest threat in the digital world. This can include viruses, programs with the intention of destroying other programs, or even creating a “back door” for hackers to get in and collect your information. Computers can become infected with malware by simply visiting unsafe websites or opening files through email without properly scanning them for viruses.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
