You should always use the latest versions of the drivers for the hardware in your system. The drivers that ship with the hardware on disc, are usually out of date by the time you get them. The best practice is to download and install the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website, or from Windows Update. In addition, if you're having problems with a particular hardware device in your system, one of the first things you need to do is update the driver to see if it fixes the issue. Application Updates 4:21-4:58 In addition to operating system updates and device driver updates, we also need to make sure that the applications installed on the system are kept up to date. How this is done depends upon the application itself. If it's a Microsoft application, then you can get updates automatically using the Microsoft Update service. However, for third-party applications, you can't use Microsoft Update. Instead, you need to either visitthe manufacturer's website and check for updates or configure the application to update itself. Many applications include an automatic updating feature that will periodically go to the manufacturer's website, and see if an update is available. Usually, it'll prompt you to download and install any updates it finds. Firmware Updates 4:59-5:52 You should also be concerned with firmware updates. Firmware is software that's embedded in the flash memory of a hardware device. This software needs to be updated just like any other software.Typically you're going to need to update the firmware for devices such as the BIOS or UEFI system on a motherboard, expansion boards in your system, and external hardware devices like network switches, routers, or wireless access points. The way you update firmware depends on the device. For example, to update a motherboard, you'll probably download the firmware update from the manufacturer's website and run it. But the process for updating a network device may be different. For example, to update the firmwareon a wireless access point, you'll probably need to visit the manufacturer's website and download the firmware update. Then, connect to the device from a workstation and load the update. The specific way you do this will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but the general steps required will be similar. Firmware Update Considerations 5:53-6:24 Updating the firmware on a device is often called flashing, because you must override the contents of the flash memory on the device with the updated software. When updating firmware, be sure that you back up the current system firmware first if possible. Most firmware update utilities provide an option to back up the existing firmware prior to installing an update, just in case something goes wrong. While that update is running, be sure that you don't turn off the device until the update is complete. If you remove power to the device before the update's done, it probably won't function anymore, and there may not be a way to recover it.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
