In order to receive an excused absence,thestudent must notify the course administrator, Ms. Pauciullo, within 24 hours of the exam.Any student who starts an exam will not be eligible for an excused absence from that exam.Makeup Exams: Each student with an excused absence from an exam must take a makeup exam on thecontent covered by the missed exam. The format of the makeup exams will beshort answer questions.•Makeup exams for students with excused absences from Exam 1 or Exam 2 will be given later in thesemester at a time and place determined by the instructors.•Students with excused absences from Exam 3 will take a makeup exam at the beginning of thefollowing semester. These students will receive a temporary grade of ‘I’ until the makeup exam iscompleted.DETERMINATION OF COURSE LETTER GRADES Letter Grade Cutoffs:Course letter grades will be determined from the course numeric gradeaccording to the following grade cut-offs:NumericGrade1LetterGrade83%A78A-73B+68B63B-58C+48C43C-38D<38F1The course numeric grade for each student will be calculated using the following formula.Course Numeric Grade = (0.28*Exam 1 + 0.28*Exam 2 + 0.34*Exam 3) + Activity Scorewhere, Activity Score = Activity Points / 100;maximum 10 pointsNote, a minimum of 1400 activity points will be available from pre-class assignments, in-class activities, post-class assignments, bonus activities and surveys.Note: Students must earn a minimum of700 activity pointsis required to receive a course lettergrade higher than B+.COURSE ADMINISTRATION AND POLICIES The BIO 203 course administrators are Ms. Lynette Giordano and Ms. Diane Pauciullo.
