The only solution to the issue of low property value due to the concentration of the homeless community in one area is to get the homeless people off the streets. More affordable housing is needed to keep more people off of the streets, especially with the value of many houses being significantly lower when being sold. For those in the homeless community that are out on the streets for reasons other than housing being too expensive, there are simple ways to aid them, too. A large portion of the homeless community is on the streets due to severe addictions taking over their lives. These addictions can include drugs, alcohol, gambling, and more. While many treatment programs exist for drug and alcohol addictions, there are much fewer treatment programs for gambling addictions. Gambling addiction, while not nearly as life threatening as drug or alcohol addiction, can easily lead into more dangerous addictions. Lynn Dell and co-writers explained in their
