big eBook providers have also ceased the practice. Doctorow states the main downside of DRM is that it is easily worked around, and ends up penalizing legitimate users rather than those who intend to steal the product (2012). That does not mean that all digital products should be freely distributed without any kind of protection. Jesus said to give to Caesar what belonged to Caesar (Matthew 22:21) so we should also strive to compensate artists for their work unless it was specifically distributed free of charge. Downloading music, books, software, and games without paying for it is stealing and every Christian should instinctively knows it is wrong. The final issue about Internet anonymity is simply not covered in the Bible. That doesn't mean that Christians cannot confidently support it, however, because it exists for the benefit of the general population. The best advice they can follow is to not only glorify God in what they code, but how they code it (Geers 2008). If Internet anonymity is going to exist, a Christian programmer should ensure that the process of coding it always brings glory to God. References Doctorow, C. (2012, May 3). The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
