2.Identify a goods-producing or service-providing organization and discuss how it might make aggregate planning decisions using the variables described in Exhibit 13.3 (p. 283).
3.Provide an argument for or against adopting a chase strategy for a major airline call center.A chase demand strategy sets the production rate equal to the demand in each time period. (Collier). At an airline call center, demands will be high during the holiday and summer times, when people travel the most. The call center management must be able to properly forecast how much support they will need (i.e. staff and equipment available). The management will face some challenges, as they will need to identify if the need for more call agents is needed, or if too many agents are being used. Hiring and firing personnel will take time and money, so having a chase strategy will be useful as management can adapt the amount of help needed, however, the disadvantage will be not properly forecasting the need for call agents and it may create a dent in the company’s budget.
