Identify a skills development plan and break it down into component parts. For each element, explain how you would assess and determine that the client had achieved this milestone. All answers will vary. For example, being able to cook healthy and varied meals can lead to independent living. Cooking competency includes: Client can slice fruits and vegetables and can measure, weigh and collect ingredients. Client can boil foods, such as vegetables and pasta. Client can bake foods, such as pies and cakes. Client can grill food, such as bacon and toast. Client can fry foods, such as bacon and stir fry. Client can make meals from scratch, such as casserole and lasagne. Client can multi-task and time different parts of a meal to be ready at the same time. Client is considered a competent cook. You could measure each of these components in the same way; by observing clients do the action unaided and without help.
