Topic of Interest 1 One topic of interest for me in this chapter was the concept of the 1-9-90 rule described by Dr. Natalie L. Petouhoff. She explains that in most social communities, about 1 percent of the population post, about 9 percent respond to posts, and 90 percent just read the posts. I found this incredibly interesting since 1 percent can make or break the engagement you have with your customers. It would be hard to influence the 90 percent since if they are just reading and not actively participating in the conversation. It makes the 1 percent of your customers a pretty critical group and one that should be carefully influenced. She goes on to say that you have to invite people into the conversation and engagement may not involve participation. The 90 percent are still reading the information and they will at some point, have an opinion they may want to share with others. At first I was convinced my time should be spent on the 1 percent but quickly realized that all of them are important in a social strategy.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
