contesting the US’s expansion. This policy made it so that many of these colonies relied on US businesses to maintain their economy, which gave the US power over these nations. Woodrow Wilson succeeded Taft, and applied a whole new diplomatic approach. Wilson took up a “Moral Diplomacy”. This meant that the US would not deal with any nation that did not exhibit democratic qualities. During his term, he also aided many nations in return for their loyalty. He aided Haiti and Cuba, who in turn became US protectorate. The US also looked to gain trading power in China. To do so, secretary of state John Hay negotiated for an open door policy, which everyone agreed to except for China. The US made many steps toward becoming a powerful nation. The success at home made it so that they could invest in foreign endeavors as well as their military. This military stopped and aided many conflicts and thus gained allies. The US’s foreign policies also helped them outmatch European powers, and gain control in the imperialistic world. By the dawn of the first world war, the US had become an economical and military power to be reckoned with.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
