Such people refer to themselves as non-binary which consists of people belonging to one or more gender, a combination of different genders or no gender at all (Kimmel, 2017). These people are currently able to receive ID cards and driver licenses labeled X. New York, California, Oregon, Washington and Columbia have already adopted this practice. People in the US are thus able to engage in different sexual orientations without any discrimination since their rights are well taken care of. Different states in the US differ in the extents to which they recognize the gender identities of LGBT. GENDER IDENTIFICATION 4 requirement for individuals to undertake reassignment surgery in order to be recognized as transgender (Sterzing et al., 2017; Kimmel, 2017). However, there are no specific laws by the federal government that protect the rights of these people in sectors such as healthcare, employment, adoption and housing. The federal government assumes that the Equal Protection Clause in the constitution prohibits gender discrimination also includes LGBT (Kimmel, 2017). It is easy to transition from one gender into another in the US because gender differences have become more accepted with time. Also, the level of discrimination has reduced and people are free to change from one gender identity to another with ease.
