F. Self-Motivation Mrs. Holt could provide self-motivation for Eric in numerous ways. Since Eric is a talented writer, lots of positive feedback for when he takes his time completing a writing assignment without careless mistakes could be very powerful. When an assignment could be completed in various ways, Mrs. Holt could give the class the options of how they would like to do it paying close attention to Eric’s response could also motivate him to stay on task. Finally, taking a genuine interest in Eric and his interests will make him feel valued and could keep him motivated throughout the year (Student). G. Active Engagement A strategy Mrs. Holt could use to promote active engagement would be to set clear expectations. When is work is carelessly completed and he begins to bother other students, he may need to be moved away from his classmates and asked to do the work over. Setting up these clear expectations and following through consistently could help Eric’s active engagement on assignments (Student).
