Question 3: Cultural Environment: It affects how people think and how they consume. Smart phones are considered essential these days which boosts sales for both Apple and Samsung. However, there is an underlying belief that Apple phones are superior to Samsung which has an effect on their respective sales. Economic Environment : It controls what and how the companies will produce the product and consumers who would use their products depending on the economy of the market. Demographic forces : Age, density, size and occupation of population can affect the sales of smart phones both for Apple and Samsung.

Political Environment : Any political decision can affect the market. For example , introduction of a technology tax will drive prices up for the customer. All the government laws and the patents registered by a company changes a lot for the other. Technological Environment : As time goes on, companies are providing more advanced tools in their phones. Apple just put facial recognition in iPhone X and Samsung launched phones with HD sensitive touch screen. Natural Environment : Both of the firms are trying towards a better natural environment. Apple headquarters and offices introduced solar panels for its electricity usage. Whereas Samsung is trying to use sustainable materials and product designs to facilitate a circular economy. Macro-environment developments that are or can become opportunities or threats are: Globalization: Mobile phones have changed the structuring of daily life. This diffusion has occurred worldwide independent of the different cultural habits, values and norms. Media Influences: The ubiquity of mobile phones has also spawned the growth of “mobile” Samaritans, allowing consumers to be both media creators and media receivers. Growing popularity of artificial intelligence could affect both companies depending on who takes the lead on its development and deployment in devices. Integration of technology: The compatibility to have the same information across all devices in a synced state highly affects customer experience. Dealing with Macro-environment changes Marketing the phones as an essential lifestyle item with maximum personal customization available.

Continued enhancement in connecting the users to the social media in a more user friendly way while still protecting privacy and security. Continued development of artificial assistants in devices, for example Apple has Siri and Samsung has Google assist etc. The assistants need to be automated to enhance user experience.
