expanders, limit results to peer-reviewed scholarly articles, age groups, and geographical subset. With all these options, it is easier to search for the right article within a reasonable amount of time. It covers a wide range of topics including nursing, biomedicine, health sciences librarianship, alternative/complementary medicine, consumer health and 17 allied health disciplines (Bhat & Takoor, 2014). The database also offers the cite option which is nice to compa re my citation with.
Step 2: Summary of Analysis Craft a summary (2-3 paragraph) below that includes the following: Describe your approach to identifying and analyzing peer-reviewed research Identify at least two strategies that you would use that you found to be effective in finding peer-reviewed research Identify at least one resource you intend to use in the future to find peer-reviewed research Approach used to identify and analyze peer-reviewed research . First the topic sentence was identified. Using Walden University Library, database was selected to search for information related to the topic sentence. CINAHL with full text was used as a search database. This database is a great tool for science searches especially when doing nursing research and it also provides several options to narrow the search down into a specific topic. Most of the articles searched using this database are refereed/ peer reviewed . Otherwise there is also an option to limit the search to peer-reviewed articles only. Strategies that I found to be effective in finding peer-reviewed research . When using a search database such as CINAHL, I found it effective to find peer-reviewed articles when short sentences or a group of few words are used in the search box then use the conjunction “OR” to combine two portions of the search if looking for information pertaining to either one of the two sides. Otherwise the use of a conjunction “AND” when looking information which is in both searched sentences or words. Also, the use of advanced search has been very
effective. It gives options to limit the search into specific information available by using options such as, refereed/peer-reviewed research, evidence-based practice, and geographic subset. Resource I intend to use in the future to find peer-reviewed research . The use of library databases will be one of my resources in the future to find peer- reviewed research. This will provide me with the options to limit my search into only peer- reviewed scholarly publications. While a student at Walden university, I prefer to use CINAHL and MEDLINE search databases. I will continue to use library databases even after graduating from Walden university.
Week 5 | Part 5: Professional Development I have developed a curriculum vitae to capture my academic and professional accomplishments to date. I have also developed a statement identifying one or more professional development goals, and a statement proposing how I might align one or more of these professional development goals with the University’s emphasis on social change.
