Law enforcement should utilize the resources made available to them to get tenants help but law enforcement should stick to combating crime and keeping the streets safe. 19. Antitrust law is directed against domination practices which interfere with the operation of a truly free market. Price fixing is thought to be a per se violation of the antitrust laws because a guilty verdict requires proof the activity was attempted, not that it unreasonably restrained the trade. The Sherman Antitrust Act banned anticompetitive behavior such as monopolies in 1890. This bans conspiracies in business. Every single contract, combination and conspiracy in restraint of trade in interstate commerce is illegal. Restraints on trade cannot be made. This applies to two or more individuals. The Clayton Act are activities which reduce competition or can lead to a monopoly power are illegal, even though they might not violate the Sherman Act. Antitrust laws affect the economy by not allowing monopolies to create barriers to entry for rival firms and continue to protect the financial interest of consumers. Corporations who possess monopoly power establish standardization within the market place, which encourages technological efficiency and also creates a smoother experience for consumers. 20. Puffery is subjective claims (taste, smell, feel, appearance). Not factual claims about the product. Misdirection advertisement is unrelated to the product but engages the viewers’ attention and interests. False advertising typically costs company’s large amounts of money if caught. A company who engages in false advertising makes consumers believe the company is not authentic. Loyal and potential costumers feel betrayed and will switch to a new brand or company.
