While this is all difficult discussions to be had with the members of the practice, and I can only assume will not be taken positively by Stephanie as she has made a serious blunder, these difficult discussions need to be had to maintain the integrity of the practice and patient safety. This discussion should be incorporated within a team building exercise, not only to decrease thetension during the conversation but to also increase retention of the information. The importantthing is to stress to all members of the practice that everyone involved wants to be able to continue providing these services to our patient population but we cannot rightfully do so if we continue to make egregious errors that could endanger the healthcare providers and the practice as a whole.ReferencesAmerican Association of Medical Assistants (2018).
