Avoiding Excessive Records in the S_WF_PROP_VAL Table The S_WF_PROP_VAL table stores values of process property for a workflow process. When a workflow process is executed, records are created in the S_WF_PROP_VAL table along with a new S_WF_STEP_INST record. There is the potential for the S_WF_PROP_VAL table to become very large over time, because a workflow process typically contains five or more process properties. Therefore, five records can be added to the S_WF_PROP_VAL table for each instance of a workflow process. Having Persistence defined on a large number of workflow processes can cause an increase in the size of the S_WF_PROP_VAL table. To avoid this situation, disable persistence on your workflows unless it is absolutely necessary. To avoid excessive records in the S_WF_PROP_VAL table Disable persistence by setting the Auto Persist property to NO on the workflow process. For more information, see “About Events” on page 157 . How to Get Help with an Error of a Workflow Process To get help with an error of a workflow process, create a service request on Oracle MetaLink 3. Alternatively, you can phone Global Customer Support directly in order to create a service request or get a status update on your current SR. Support phone numbers are listed on Oracle MetaLink 3.

Administering a Workflow Process Diagnosing a Workflow Process That Has Failed Siebel Business Process Framework: Workflow Guide Version 8.1, Rev A 243 You can use the following ways to communicate errors of a workflow process: Send the log files. Log files are generated by turning on tracing, as described in Step 1 on page 240 . Communicate the error code and error message. Except for a service workflow process, if a workflow process encounters an error, then the state of the workflow is persistent with a status of In-Error. If a workflow encounters an error in a subprocess, then the state of the subprocess is also persistent. Both the error code and the error message are saved in a process property. You can examine the error code and error message in the Process Properties list of the Workflow Process Instance Admin view. If a record is chosen from the All Workflow Process Instances list, then the related instance list displays the parent and child workflows. You can communicate the error code and the error message for further assistance. Troubleshooting Execution Problems with a Workflow Process This topic describes guidelines for resolving execution problems of a workflow process. Table 42 lists Symptoms and error messages you can review in order to resolve problems with the execution of a workflow process. Table 42. Troubleshooting Execution Problems of a Workflow Process Symptom Diagnostic Steps and Cause Solution After activating a workflow process, it does not execute when the corresponding run-time event is called.
