assess the above understanding, so it is irrelevant. Furthermore, it seems to be a preemptive mechanism to pose such a question, rather than trying to find out some of the instances where breaking the rules would be tolerated. This question would simply not gather any useful information necessary to assess the competency[Jon16]. Give us an instance when you have broken rules? This question will give the interviewer an opportunity to evaluate the understanding of the manager on issues to do with rules and regulations that govern an organization both inside and outside. By responding to the question, the interviewer will portray his understanding of the importance of rules in organization, the consequences involved in breaking the rules and so on. The information would be gathered comprehensively since the manager would be giving a personal experience regarding the issue[Jon16]. Also, by analyzing this instance, the interviewer will assess severity of the rules that were broken by the interviewee and the consequences that followed. This will help in making the recruitment decision on consideration of risk taking competency. Why would you think it is acceptable but illegal to break the rules? The reaction to this question would exhibit the fact that the interviewee understands that there are instances when breaking a rule might be acceptable even though the action would be illegal in the eyes of the law. This will also reveal the flexibility and the reasoning of the manager as he give circumstances under which breaking the rules would be acceptable. Again, the response is expected to incorporate the understanding of the interviewer on the illegality of breaking the rules and regulations as much as he points out the instances where breaking the rules is justifiable.
