Since sexuality is hardly if ever discussed in the Black Church, many believe that something this heinous could never take part . The motto of “don’t ask, don’t tell” that Black communities have lived by, have been detrimental to their growth . It makes a case like the one of Eddie Long, hard to deal with because it’s hard to believe that someone who claims to be a “man of God” and who preaches his word is a hypocrite . You have to ask yourself: was it the denial of self or the outward condemnation of gays and lesbians that lead Bishop Eddie Long, and many other black people to lead a double life? The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
