The input for this company would be making of food, and the output would be getting it delivered to the customer in a friendly and fast manner. Another issue might be that McDonald’s are franchises, so not all the restaurants are the same, but they have particular rules and procedures that must be followed to be allowed to keep the McDonald’s name and sell the food that carries the trademark known to be McDonald’s. The third business I chose is Publix Supermarket. This is a chain grocery store was founded in 1930 in Winter Haven, Florida that still gives a family owned store feel as well as service. There are 1,451 locations now throughout the southeastern portion of the United States and as of 2012 they employed 158,000 employees ("Wikipedia," 2014). The stores are broken down into department’s consisting of; grocery items, meat, health and beauty aids, a full bakery,

DEVELOPING GOOD BUSINESS SENSE 4 a deli, which provided freshly made sandwiches, as well as hot foods, produce, floral, pharmacy, and customer service. Every department has a manager along with hourly employees to keep each department well stocked and to run smoothly. Each department has different needs to maintain quality service and that is how employees are trained for their specific duties. There is extra training for any employee that works in departments where there is special equipment to run, such as the meat and deli departments. The input for this store would be all of the various merchandise sold, and the output would be selling the merchandise in a timely manner so as it doesn’t expire and a pleasant shopping experience for the customer.
